Family and friends are honouring Jaimi Lee Kenny’s memory one year after her sudden and tragic death.

The eldest daughter of Olympian Lisa Curry and ironman Grant Kenny died on September 14, 2020 following a private battle with a long-term illness.

Her passing rocked Australia, especially as mum Lisa shared her memories and grief in the weeks and months after Jaimi’s death.

Now the 59-year-old has led the tributes to her daughter one year on, posting a moving video to Instagram.

“I would never have thought my life would be like it is now,” she captioned the clip.

Lisa Curry has led the tributes to her late daughter Jaimi.

“Today, 1 year ago, we lost our treasured first born, our blue eyed, chatty Jaimi.

“That gut wrenching, heart breaking moment where we had to say goodbye,” she continued.

“Grant and I feel broken. I’ve lost myself. But each day I try to continue on, one step at a time to get things done, to continue being a mother, a grannie, a wife, a friend, a business owner.”

Alongside her video tribute to Jaimi, grieving mum Lisa penned: “I try to continue on […] At times distracting myself so much that I can’t think of anything… but then the quiet times come and everything comes flooding back, every feeling, every memory and I feel like I’m drowning in the pain… and I just can’t … do anything.

“But each day there are times when it’s ok… for a little while and I guess those little times will eventually get a little longer. 🌸 Today, at 7.10am, as she took her last breath a year ago, we honoured Jaimi by being at her favourite beach to lay flowers into the ocean. I hope that wherever she is – above, or at arms length in spirit energy she can still see and feel the love. Remembering you always our beautiful girl.😞🌸👼 Still feels like yesterday💔 Love from all of us.”

Best friend Millie shared this photo with Jaimi to Instagram along with a moving caption which read: “It’s been one year since you became an angel darling girl + I still find it so hard to comprehend. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of you; some days I sob + some days I smile.

“Grief is a rollercoaster; an absolutely brutal one at times. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to accurately articulate just how much I miss you; the hole you have left is immense… Every night I light your candle, turn on your fairy lights + take a moment to look up at the night sky. I hope you are happy + free up there darling spreading your sparkle; heaven is so lucky to have you. Love you forever + always xxx”

Millie is an eating disorder recovery coach who works at End ED on the Sunshine Coast and shared a close bond with Jaimi before her death. She appears to have stayed close with Jaimi’s family since, sharing this touching photo at the beach with Lisa on the anniversary of Jaimi’s death.

In the caption she revealed the photo was snapped as family and friends gathered to spread flowers in the ocean in Jaimi’s memory.

Mille also posted a photo of Lisa, Morgan, Jett and Morgan’s sons Flynn and Taj with the caption: “This morning we gathered at the beach I was standing on when you took your last breath one year ago today. The beach where we made so many memories together; your favourite one. We gathered to honour + remember your precious heart + your beautiful soul.”

Jaimi’s close friend concluded her tribute with several photos of colourful flowers lying on the sand, writing: We filled the ocean with pretty flowers for you + I could feel you looking down on all of us + smiling your gorgeous smile. You are so loved + missed my darling girl; more than you can begin to imagine.”
