Baby abandoned at Melbourne tram stop

And the entire scene was caught on camera.

A nine-month-old baby has been abandoned at a tram stop on a freezing Melbourne night.

The 31-year-old father from Caulfield South left the baby in a pram on the corner of James St and Glen Huntly Rd just after 10pm on Wednesday night.

After parking the pram by the side of the road, the man proceeded to kick trash around and soon boarded a tram, which was all caught on security footage and aired on Seven News.

Ten minutes after the father left the scene shocked strangers found the pram, with the baby still tucked up inside.

Police soon arrived and later found the abandoned nine-month-old’s father at a train station.

The man resisted arrest forcing police to use capsicum spray. He has since been charged with reckless conduct endangering life and – currently out on bail – will appear in Moorabbin Magistrates Court in September.

The baby is still being taken care of at Monash Children’s Hospital and is in “good health,” according to reports from The Herald Sun.

A hospital spokesperson confirmed to the paper, they are looking for “the best possible care” for the baby and are working with authorities to ensure this occurs.
