What’s on the menu for Michelle post MasterChef?

Plus, find out why her money is on Nicole to take out the competition…
Michelle MasterChef

At just 19-years-old, Michelle was one of the youngest contestants on MasterChef this season. She wowed the judges with her golden chocolate ball in the auditions and continued to impress them throughout the series.

However, last night was the end of Michelle’s MasterChef journey. We caught up with her to find out her post show plans.

How did you find the whole MasterChef experience?

I found it to be quite challenging, yet fun. I was able to share what I love to cook with people who have the same passion as me.

Being in the MasterChef kitchen can be daunting, you just never know what you will be put up against next. The best thing for me was to keep a positive mindset and move on when I had bad days. I slowly started gaining confidence in the kitchen and somehow I felt like I was cooking in my own kitchen at home.

Favourite moment from your time on the show?

When I brought the judges the golden chocolate ball! I still remember when George cracked the ball open, their faces were full of excitement.

Most embarrassing moment?

The relay challenge. That was my first time steaming a bun before and I completely went blank. I felt very guilty for letting my teammates down.

What dish are you most proud of?

The cheesecake log dessert. We had to cook next to the Murray River and the location inspired me to cook that dessert. I was glad Heston enjoyed my dish.

What is your relationship like with the other contestants? Who were you close to?

My relationship with the other contestants was great. There was no drama, so I enjoyed living with them. I was closest with Nicole, Tamara, Eloise and Sarah. I was also close with Callan.

Who was your biggest competition and why?

Callan. He has his own interesting way of cooking in comparison to mine, and we are the youngest in the competition.

Did you have a favourite judge?

I really like how comforting Matt is as a person and he’s always up for a chat.

Which judge did you find most intimidating and why?

I think it really depends on the circumstances, if you put up a bad dish then all three can become intimidating, however they’re lovely judges.

Who do you want to win and why?

I want Nicole to win as Nicole was my closest friend in the house. She’s very studious and humble. I’ve also done some cooking rosters with her, I have seen how creative and talented she is as a cook and she is also very good with flavour pairings.
