Over the years, the Duchess of Sussex has parted ways with family, friends and former loved ones, but no one’s vanished as abruptly from Meghan’s close circle as her bestie Jessica Mulroney.

Now insiders say the 43-year-old Canadian stylist is ready to share her side of the story and is in talks with various publishing companies about penning a memoir that will include details about their long friendship and why it ended.

Unsurprisingly, Meghan is said to be concerned.

“Jessica’s book could really cause Meghan some problems,” shares a royal insider. “Jessica was Meghan’s number one confidante for almost a decade, during which time she met and married Prince Harry. She knows the truth about everything – from Meghan’s divorce to her fight with Princess Kate.”

The mum-of-three, who married former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney’s son Ben in 2008, became close to Meghan when she was starring in Suits and living in Toronto.

Jessica played a significant role in Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding, with her daughter Ivy stepping up as flower girl and her twin sons John and Brian as pageboys.

She also joined the couple on their 2018 royal tour of Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Tonga and reportedly offered a supportive ear when the Sussexes were debating leaving their roles as senior
royals soon after.

“It was an incredible time for her and her best friend, so it’s remarkable that Jessica hasn’t talked about it at all,” says the insider.

And while Jessica will be limited in what she can write due to non-disclosure agreements, there could be ways around this. Most notably, so many facts about her well-publicised fallout with Meghan are already in the public domain.

The pair’s friendship faltered in the aftermath of Jessica being accused of using “white privilege” while defending herself against racism accusations made by influencer Sasha Exeter in 2020.

While Jessica issued three public apologies, she was dropped by several television networks where she made regular appearances and her wedding-themed reality TV show was dropped by Canadian network CTV.

Around this time, it was claimed Meghan had cut ties with her friend and an insider told Page Six the duchess had distanced herself after feeling Jessica was “trying to make a career out of the friendship”.

CRYPTIC QUOTES

Despite this, Jessica posted on Instagram saying all was well, writing, “Meghan and I are family.” But a year later, Jess appeared to suggest the friendship had ended, posting cryptic quotes about how people “lose friends” and “friends distance from you”.

In recent months, Jessica has made a return of sorts to the public eye and is once again working with her previous charity partners. But if she chooses to spill the beans on her former best friend, Jessica will be catapulted straight back into the spotlight.

“Harry and Meghan should be very worried that Jessica’s side of the story could ruin everything,” notes the source.
