It’s wild to think that this time last year, Australia was only just going into lockdown.

While many bigger picture uncertainties consumed us, another factor that many forward-planners dealt with was cancelling travel plans.

But one year on, we in Australia have been pretty lucky with travel restrictions around the country now easing.

So lucky, in fact, that hundreds of thousands of half price plane tickets are now up for grabs.

As part of a $1.2 billion tourism support package unveiled by the Federal Government, 800,000 half-price airline tickets are being made available online from April 1 for travel from May 1.

The scheme aims to encourage Aussies to holiday interstate while international travel is still off the cards so domestic travel has never been easier.

The subsidy is open to any airline that has been flying the nominated routes in the past two years – Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar are among them, as well as some regional operators.

A spokesperson for Qantas told news.com.au that some of the highlights will include Sydney to the Gold Coast for $77, Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast for $100 and Sydney to Cairns for $118.

Jetstar, meanwhile is set to be even lower! According to Escape, the airline has flights from Sydney to the Gold Coast in June for $56 one way, just $28 one way with the half price deal.

Some of the other cheap fares include Melbourne to the Goldie for $57 and Sydney to Cairns for $83.

Wondering where to go? Look no further and prepare to board.

Fasten your seatbelts for these cracking deals.
