You will need: Scissors, fabric, foamcore or thick cardboard, assorted ribbon, push pins, 12 matchboxes, a ruler, a box cutter, decorative wrapping paper, quick-dry glue, number stencils, and a pencil.

Step One

Step One: Make sure you gather all your equipment together before starting.

Step Two

Step Two: Cut out a piece of fabric and cover some foam or cardboard with it – this will form the backdrop for your Advent calendar. Decorate with strips of ribbon and push pins. Empty out 12 matchboxes. Using a ruler and box cutter, cut different decorative wrapping paper.

Step Three

Step Three: Cover each matchbox with different pieces of wrapping paper.

Step Four

Step Four: Attach ribbons to decorate each of the wrapped matchboxes. Using a stencil, number each of the matchboxes from 1 to 12.

All done

All done: Cover each box and glue it onto the fabric-covered cardboard in rows. Fill each matchbox with small pieces of candy and enjoy!
