Princess Mary of Denmark is sublime on Vogue Australia cover

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark feature on the cover of Vogue Australia's August 2016 edition.

When she first graced the glossy title, she was finding her footing as a Princess, but now Mary, joined by her husband Frederik, is preparing to take the reigns as Queen of Denmark.

But she doesn’t take her power lightly.

“I find it difficult to speak of myself as a role model, as role models are defined by the individual. It is what they see in a person that gives meaning or inspiration to them that makes another person a role model for them. It’s not something I consciously think about,” the 44-year-old Hobart-born mused.

“But at the same time, I am very aware of my role and my responsibility. If I can inspire others and if others see something in me that can inspire them.”

Mary first graced Vogue Australia back in 2004, now over 12 years later, she is joined by her husband and Denmark’s future King, Frederik.

With royal favourite, Mario Testino, capturing snap of the dazzling couple, the feature will no doubt shed light on the life the beloved royals lead.

The shoot took place in and around their home of Amalienborg Palace, in Copenhagen, and the editorial also featured the Prince and Princess’s four children Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

Aren’t they gorgeous!

The kids have grown up so much!

Tying the knot back in 2004, Mary has gone on to achieve so much, including her role as a spokeswoman for gender equality and a champion of sustainable practices within the fashion and textile industries.

She has also founded the Mary Foundation, an initiative which aims to give back to people who are socially isolated, with one million Danish krone she was given as a wedding present.

Yet it is clear she won’t be accepting any compliments

Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Edwina McCann admitting, “When you read the first interview we did with her, she said she hoped she would prove worthy and that she had to believe that she could do it.”

“And now she does know she can do it, so there is a difference in her level of confidence and that allows her to broaden her influence and her ability to work on things that she really believes in.

The girl from Tassie has come a long way!

“You can feel this is the next part of her life as a much more confident and mature woman and I think we will see her presence on the global stage a lot more.

“She has that ability to really be a world leader in this area. She is exposed to the most extraordinary people and conversation and has access to the most extraordinary people.”
