Take a look inside the lavish royal christening of Prince Carl and Princess Sofia of Sweden’s son, Prince Julian

Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden have baptised their third son, Prince Julian, in a stunning royal ceremony surrounded by their family.

Little Prince Julian was born on March 26, 2021, and joins Sofia and Carl’s two elder sons, Prince Alexander, five, and Prince Gabriel, three.

The two elder princes were in attendance for their baby brother’s special day on the weekend, dressed in adorable matching shorts and blazers.

They were also joined by the likes of Crown Princess Victoria and husband Prince Daniel, along with Sweden’s Queen Silvia and King Carl Gustaf.

While the Swedish royal family may not attract as much international attention as their British counterparts, they certainly know how to put on a show for a special occasion.

The royals arrived at Drottningholm Palace Chapel dressed up to the nines and posed for family portraits ahead of the televised baptism ceremony.

Proud parents Sofia and Carl stood out from the pack and not just because both were beaming over their baby son.

The couple are widely regarded as one of the best-looking royal duos in the world, and it’s easy to see why – just take a look at them!

Official photographs from the special occasion show the royal family of five beaming as the celebrate young Prince Julian’s baptism. The portraits were snapped at the Swedish royal family’s summer home, Drottningholm Palace.

Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia joined Princess Sofia, Prince Carl Philip and their sons for a second portrait, along with Sofia’s parents Marie and Erik Hellqvist.

In a third portrait, Prince Julian’s five godparents posed with the newly christened royal. They are Jacob Högfeldt, Frida Vesterberg, Patrick Sommerlath and Johana and Stina Andersson.

The royals also stepped outside for one big family photo, joined by the likes of Crown Princess Victoria and her family, as well as Princess Madeleine and her family.

The little princes looked downright adorable in matching navy shorts and grey blazers, while their father donned a military uniform for the occasion.

Princess Sofia wore a white gown with colourful floral embroidery by Italian designer Etro, which she paired with a white headband tied in a large bow.

The rest of the royal family joined the proud parents for photographs outside the Drottningholm Palace Chapel, where the christening was held.

Prince Julian wore an heirloom lace christening gown which has been in the royal family for over 100 years, since 1906. It was worn by his father in 1979 and has been worn by countless royal babies over the decades.

In a family candid shot, thought to have been snapped after the event, Princess Sofia beamed as she held her elder sons by the hand and Prince Carl cradled their newborn.

Other royals at the christening included Princess Victoria – Prince Carl’s older sister – and her husband Prince Daniel, with their children Princess Estelle, nine, and Prince Oscar, five.

Sweden’s Queen Silvia and King Carl Gustaf also attended the special occasion, the Queen donning a light blue ensemble with a matching hat.

Prince Carl’s younger sister Princess Madeleine was joined by her husband Christopher O’Neill and their children Princess Leonore, seven, Princess Adrienne, three, and Prince Nicolas, six, for the event.
