Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were warmly greeted by close friends, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima when they touched down in the Netherlands on Wednesday.
The royal couples greeted each other with open arms, exchanging air kisses and hugs as the Spanish royals arrived at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague.
The Dutch King was reportedly overheard saying, “It’s a pleasure to see you again”, to his Spanish counterpart – who was said to have arrived 15 minutes late due to a travel delay.
The newly crowned Queen Letizia looked stylish in a fitted red button-down dress which featured embodied detailing on the hem.
Not to be outdone, Queen Maxima looked equally chic in an aubergine-tinted peplum dress accessorised with matching wide-brimmed hat.
The males of the monarchy also looked smart in dark tailored suits and colourful ties.
The Spanish royals only stayed in the Netherlands for a short one day visit where they were also due to meet with Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte at The Hague.
The visit was the first time the royal couples had seen each other since King Felipe VI succeeded the Spanish throne on 19 June 2014.
