Guess which royal wants to ban baths?

For good!

Back when Queen Elizabeth I ruled England, baths were a rather unpopular and unfashionable thing.

Due to the widespread belief that baths helped spread the plague and smallpox, Queen Elizabeth only ever bathed once a month, “whether [she] needed it or no”.

But since we’ve discovered that baths actually prevent disease and not cause them, bathing has definitely become a more frequent event.

But it won’t be for long if King Cark XVI Gustav of Sweden gets his way!

The Swedish King recently spoke out about banning the baths in an effort to save water, advocating for short showers instead.

“All bathtubs should be banned. Imagine!” he told a local newspaper.

The King revealed that he had the idea after taking a long bath because he had no shower in his room, “It struck me that using a lot of fresh water and energy was not the smartest thing to do. I felt embarrassed about wasting it.”

But cutting baths out of his royal agenda isn’t the only green step he’s taking to tackle climate change.

“I have a hybrid car at the moment, so when I drive into town, my ride is completely electric,” said King Carl.

“I’m eating less meat,” he said.

And although Carl’s idea is slightly off (the average ten-minute shower uses more water than a standard bathtub), we definitely think he’s going in the right direction!
