Shunning the more traditional press release or royal easel outside Buckingham Palace, the couple chose to tweet the happy news, writing: “For everyone who has asked what our daughter’s name is, it’s Mia Grace Tindall.”
It is not clear why the name Mia Grace was chosen. Neither name has a royal connection and Zara and Mike have no close relations called Mia or Grace.
Zara welcomed Mia in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital last week. The baby weighed 7lb 12oz and is 16th in line to the throne. She is the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild but will not hold any royal title.
Zara gave birth naturally and was released from hospital just six hours after the baby was born.
Soon afterwards, Mike took to Twitter to describe his joy at becoming a dad, saying it was “definitely the best day of my life”.
