Where the royals go to holiday

Want to holiday like a royal? We'll show you where to go.

As the year comes to a close, most of the royals will be embarking on their festive holidays.

Being as well-travelled as they are, it should come as no surprise that they all have different preferences as to where they spend their off time.

Highlighted by their epic engagement trip, Kate and Wills are found of the planes of Africa, whilst brother Harry enjoys a romp in the snow.

The Queen and Prince Philip prefer to keep within their own Kingdom, and spend every holiday season in Balmoral, Scotland.

Take a look at our favourite royal holiday spots.

Since their engagement there in 2010, Africa (Kenya, especially) has had a special place in Kate and Wills’ heart. They often holiday there.

Their other preferred holiday spot is the tropical island of Mustique, in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Kate and Wills often bring their family along with them for sunny getaways.

Although Prince Harry has been known to dabble in sunnier areas in Italy and New Zealand, he makes return trips to the skiing-prime mountains of the Swiss Alps.

A far cry from their houses in Wales and England, Prince Charles and Camilla often travel to Romania, where they have two houses.

Princess Eugenie has been told off by her boss for taking too many holidays, but it seems the Princess can’t keep away from the Big Apple, New York.

While sister Princess Beatrice prefers Ibiza (and Switzerland… and New York… and London… and Wales…).

One of Diana’s favourite holiday spots was Mallorca.

The Queen and Prince Philip are traditionalists, of course, preferring their Sandringham Estate and Balmoral Castle.

Princess Mary on the other hand, likes her homegrown holidays! The Princess loves going back to her home state of Tasmania, where she will spend her Christmas this year.
