It is a truth universally acknowledged that once every few years, one celebrates some kind of momentous royal milestone.

But this year, we’re celebrating far more than one.

In 2021 alone, we’ll witness Prince Philip celebrating his 100th birthday, while the births of two royal babies is nothing to sneeze at.

That’s why the birth of one of said royal babies has captivated the world so swiftly this week.

Indeed, news of Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank’s new royal baby boy was announced by Buckingham Palace on February 9, promptly delighting royal fans the world over in the process.

The official statement specified extra details about the baby’s birth, including its weight (a healthy 8lbs 1oz), and the location of the birth – Portland Hospital.

For some, the name of the hospital may sound familiar – and you wouldn’t be wrong.

Interestingly, Portland Hospital is the very place Eugenie herself was born.

Her mother Sarah Ferguson welcomed Eugenie at the London-based hospital 30 years ago on March 23. She also welcomed her elder daughter Princess Beatrice there a few years earlier.

The hospital itself is located in the City of Westminster in central London, and is known for housing several other elite fellows.

The hospital was also the location of choice for Duchess Meghan’s birth, who welcomed her baby son Archie there back in May 2019.

At the time, many saw the apt link given the hospital is American-owned, and Meghan is also from the United States.

Eugenie also joins Britain’s celebrity fold who’ve also given birth at the hospital – Victoria Beckham and Jools Oliver, wife of famous chef Jamie Oliver were also among those who welcomed children at the central London spot.

Of course, it’s likely Eugenie felt a special connection to the hospital given it was where she was born.

It’s also no doubt thrilled Sarah Ferguson, who is known to be incredibly close with both of her daughters.

As for where to next for Eugenie, Jack and their new baby – well, we’re pretty sure that’ll also be special.

Rumours have been rife that the pair will move to Frogmore Cottage, the old Windsor home of Duchess Meghan and Harry before they moved to the US.

If that’s the case, the pair will no doubt have plenty of privacy as the property is located within the grounds of Windsor Castle and has ample space for the new family to spread out.

We’re sure that when the current COVID-19 restrictions lift, the new baby will be inundated with visitors as well.

And if not now, at least the royal baby boy already has some close ties with his regal relatives.
