It's another gaffe that proves Meghan's dad won't be getting an invitation to Buckingham Palace soon.

He may have praised Prince Charles for walking his daughter down the aisle, but now, Thomas Markle has a bone to pick with Queen Elizabeth.

Just when we started to like him again, Duchess Meghan’s father is back in the news after speaking to TMZ, but this time he’s criticised the Queen for choosing to meet another famous American rather than her granddaughter-in-law’s father.

US president Donald Trump will be visiting the UK in July and seeing as he and the Queen are two of the most powerful people in the world right now, it’s assumed that the two will meet. But Thomas Markle has said that Her Majesty is going to meet with such a controversial American, why can’t she meet up with another?

“If the Queen is willing to meet our arrogant and insensitive president she has no excuse not to meet me, I’m nowhere near as bad.”

For someone who’s “nowhere near as bad” as Trump, Thomas Markle is no stranger to controversy. The former lighting director infamously staged paparazzi photos of himself ahead of Meghan and Harry’s royal nuptials and when his plan spectacularly backfired, he pulled out of the wedding completely.

In a statement before the wedding, Meghan said, “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”

Instead, Thomas watched his daughter’s big day whilst eating jelly alone in an Airbnb.

Prince Charles stepped in for Meghan’s father, Thomas, at the Royal Wedding.

Speaking in his tell-all interview on Good Morning Britian to hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, Thomas Markle apologised for the staged photos, saying he thought he could use the opportunity to show himself in a more positive light.

“Obviously that all went to hell,” he said. “I feel bad about it, I apologise for it and that’s all I can do. That was a mistake.”

Oh Thomas, you were doing so well. And seeing as Queenie and Meghan are becoming firm friends, we doubt she’s going to be inviting you over tea anytime soon.
