Actress and royal-to-be Meghan Markle, 36, may be totally in love with and engaged to Prince Harry, 33, but she made headlines earlier this year when she showed up to the Invictus Games with another hunk in tow. So, who was the bearded cutie spotted in the seat next to her? He’s Meghan’s old pal Markus Anderson!

Here we list everything you need to know about Meg’s BFF Markus!

He’s been friends with Meghan for years

Harry certainly has nothing to worry about when it comes to Meghan’s Invictus Games date. She’s been friends with Markus for a long time, even featuring him in several social media posts through the years.

As a matter of fact, they traveled to Madrid, Spain together with designer friend Misha Nonoo in August 2016! The cute trio even used the hashtag #MMMinMadrid on social media to commemorate the fun.

He introduced Meghan to Prince Harry

Just months before their trip to Spain, Markus is said to have “set up a date” between Meghan and the red-headed royal. Markus is reportedly one of Meghan’s “closest friends in the world” while he’s also “on friendly terms” with the prince. If only we all had a matchmaker pal like him!

He has the coolest job ever

Markus is a consultant for the fancy SoHo House Group. He’s done everything for the company, beginning as a waiter and working his way up. He spent years as the global membership director, where he was “sent out to get to know the city, the creatives that live there, and determine who we want to involve in the house,” whenever the company decided to open a new location, according to the Daily Mail. He was responsible for putting the first SoHo House in Toronto, which is allegedly how he met Meghan.

He’s kind of a big deal in Toronto

Markus is an important member of the community in Toronto, and he’s been recognised as such. In 2014, he was named one of the city’s 50 most influential people by Toronto Life, which wrote that he “has a bloodhound’s nose for tastemakers: he crafts the guest lists for the club’s biggest international parties (including its annual Oscar bash), creates pop-up clubs during Art Basel Miami and the Berlin film festival, and has amassed a contact list that would make a paparazzo swoon.”

Meanwhile, he was also on the publication’s best-dressed list, which explained that he got his killer style in London, where “he befriended fashion designers like Alexander McQueen” and “came to appreciate quality structured jackets and a Chelsea boot.” Markus himself attributes his style inspiration to “the easy style of Paul Newman and Steve McQueen.”

We’re sure Markus will score an invite to the upcoming royal wedding!
