As the month of August arrived, we were faced with the usual new-month feels – first, wondering where on earth the year has gone, and second, waiting to see which new charities Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry had decided to follow on Instagram.

Indeed the royal pair made a big impression on the world in their decision to only follow people and charities whose work they wish to shine a light on.

The pair also decided to spread the love, choosing to follow a new set of charities each month.

Of course, we expected the same to happen in August – only, it didn’t happen quite in the way we expected.

On August 1, the pair shared a single image with the simple phrase: “Who is your force for change?”.

In the caption, they elaborated.

“For the month of August we look to you for help. We want to know who YOUR Force for Change is….”

The post continued: “Each month, we change the accounts we follow to highlight various causes, people or organisations doing amazing things for their communities and the world at large.

“Over the next few days please add your suggestions into the comments section: someone you look up to, the organisation doing amazing work that we should all be following, an account that inspires you to be and do better (or that simply makes you feel good), or the handle that brims with optimism for a brighter tomorrow.”

We can’t help but delight in the genius way these two are leveraging today’s social-media-laden society and turning our gaze towards all the good parts of it.

Now, in an exciting reveal, the pair have unveiled exactly who their 15 newly followed charities are, and there are some faces very close to home in the mix.

The royals announced the chosen charities via another Instagram post, stating that widespread feedback from their following had been to highlight lesser known organisations and to shine a light on those working hard behind the scenes.

Describing the charities they picked, the caption explained: “These accounts showcase those persevering at the grassroots level, connecting our global community through a shared lens of giving back and helping one another.”

The royals added: “We were so happy to learn about them and are now able to share them with you!”

The post was met with glee and excitement from both fans and those involved in the organisations.

And among those are two incredible Aussie charities: Rafiki Mwema and Beyond Blue.

Rafiki Mwema is an amazing charity that works with children who have suffered horrific abuse.

The charity uses play therapy and works closely with communities in order to break the cycle of abuse.

Famed Aussie mum Constance Hall has also worked closely with the organisation in the past, raising money and calling for donations to help.

Hall even headed to Kenya where she helped open a safe house called the ‘Kings Castle’ for young boys of Rafiki Mwema who have faced serious hardships.

Constance Hall is a known supporter of Rafiki Mwema and it’s incredible work.

Aussie organisation Beyond Blue has also been chosen by Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan.

The charity helps people with mental health issues, encouraging them to open up and providing round the clock support with a helpline.

Their website also shares a number of incredible resources to educate people on mental health, and partners with Aussie celebs to shine a light on it.

It’s undeniably incredible to see such inspiring Australian charities be highlighted on a global level by the royals.

Other charities in the 15 chosen by the royals include Lion Guardians, which is a lion conservation initiative located in Kenya, and Tiny Tickers, which is a UK-based foundation that helps babies who have serious heart conditions.
