All eyes are on Sophie, Countess of Wessex as she touches down in New York City for a series of royal engagements, but her work isn’t what caught our attention.
On Monday night she attended the United Nations’ Commonwealth Day reception, before meeting with UN Women representatives on Tuesday at a briefing on how the conflict in Ukraine is impacting women and girls.
The 57-year-old also delivered a keynote speech at the ‘Upholding Women’s Rights in Afghanistan’ event in NYC, which focused on efforts to protect the human rights of women and girls in Afghanistan.

It wasn’t even her chic wardrobe that caught attention, though she did recycle a luxe leather dress she was spotted wearing last year.
No, fans are curious because this is the first time Sophie has travelled to the US since her nephew, Prince Harry, and his wife Meghan Markle relocated there in 2020 following their royal exit.
The couple currently reside in California with their two young children, Archie, two, and Lilibet, nine months, the latter of whom is yet to meet Sophie and any of her British royal family members in person.
With Princess Eugenie having just recently travelled to the US to visit the couple with her husband Jack Brooksbank, royal watchers are eager to see if Sophie will do the same while she’s States-side.
The countess has spent all her time in New York since touching down earlier this week, but it’s possible she could jet across to California to visit the Sussex family in the coming days.
In fact, the duke and duchess could even travel to New York to see her while she’s in town, as they’ve been flown into Manhattan for a few days on two occasions recently.
The pair first headed to NYC for a series of engagements in September 2021, attending a whirlwind of events before flying back to California.

The couple have spent most of their time at home in California in 2022, enjoying family time and a cheeky trip to the Super Bowl for Harry and cousin Eugenie while she was in town.
He was also spotted at a rodeo event in Texas last week, sporting a casual button-down shirt and what appeared to be a classic cowboy hat.

With the couple embracing a slightly more public presence in the US in recent months, royal watchers are eager to see if they will meet up with Sophie publicly while she’s in the country.
A reunion would suggest a mending of ties between the couple and senior royals across the pond in the UK, which would be timely given the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is coming up.
Harry and Meghan are said to be among the many big-name royals set to attend the celebrations in June, with hopes they’ll bring their two children to the UK too.
