Fergie just gave us a little more clarity on Princess Eugenie’s engagement talk

Should we be expecting a royal wedding?

Should we be expecting a royal wedding? Not according to the Duchess of York.

Despite lingering rumours her daughter Princess Eugenie is secretly engaged to longtime boyfriend Jack Brooksbank Sarah Ferguson laughed off that there was any truth in it.

According to PEOPLE Ferguson, 57, was at the 33rd annual Alzheimer’s Association Rita Hayworth Gala on Tuesday night when a reporter asked if her 26-year-old had been proposed to.

“No,” she said through giggles while shaking her head.

Prince Andrew, Jack Brooksbank, the Duchess of York and Princess Eugenie all enjoy a day at Royal Ascot.

But while Jack hasn’t popped the question yet Fergie and other royals seem fond of the chap who has been dating the eighth in line to the throne for the past six years.

Brooksbank, 29, even reportedly joined Fergie, her ex, Prince Andrew and other members of the royal family on a recent retreat to Scotland for Prince Harry’s birthday.

Eugenie herself has in the past remarked on how much she loves the Highland getaways.

“Walks, picnics, dogs – a lot of dogs, there’s always dogs – and people coming in and out all the time. It’s a lovely base for Granny and Grandpa, for us to come and see them up there; where you just have room to breathe and run,” Princess Eugenie said on ITV’s Our Queen At Ninety.

“It’s the most beautiful place on earth,” she added.

Balmoral Castle is the personal and private property of the Queen, and is generally used by the royal family for eight to ten weeks each year during August – October.

Many thought this may be the perfect place for her boyfriend to get the family’s permission and finally pop the question, but alas, is doesn’t seem to have happened yet.

While at the charity event on Tuesday Fergie also talked about how proud she is to have raised girls with such philanthropic spirit.

Sarah Ferguson with her two daughters, Princess Beatrice, 28, and Princess Eugenie, 26.

“My daughters are the finest ambassadors of good parenting from Andrew and I,” she said of Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice to PEOPLE.

“Beatrice just raised a great deal of money for her charity Big Change, doing a Strive Challenge with the Bransons,” she said. “And then she went with the Franks Foundation to eye hospitals in Nepal. And she has scoliosis of the spine and she does an awful lot for orthopaedic research.”

She added, “They are very extraordinary girls.”
