These Royal Christmas card photos tell us A LOT about life in the Palace

A picture paints a thousand words...

As the countdown to Christmas begins, royal fans are gearing up to be treated to a rare insight into how the royals live - thanks to their annual royal Christmas card.
And while they have served as an annual nod of gratitude and best wishes, royal Christmas cards are also a poignant reminder of how royal life has changed over the years.
Last year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a stunning snap with their two kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Now that we've got young Prince Louis in the mix, we've got our fingers crossed for an updated family pic in the coming weeks!

Meanwhile Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry will also be preparing their first Christmas card as a married couple this year - baby bump in tow!
Across the pond, Swedish Royals Crown Princess Victoria, her husband, Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland and their two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, mixed things up last year, opting to share a festive video.
Taking to their official royal Instagram page, the future Swedish Queen showed her family enjoying the best of winter, having a fun day in the snow at Haga Palace in Stockholm, Sweden.
Alongside the clip, which you can watch above, they wrote, "The royal couple, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar wish you a merry Christmas from Haga Castle."
Since it's the season to be merry, we look at some of the best royal Christmas card photos from the past few decades and see what they reveal about life inside the palace.
