Queen Victoria’s underwear for sale

It's quite possibly the most unusual item to go up for auction - Queen Victoria's 100-year-old underwear is set to be sold.

With a guide price of £2,000, we’re not sure who would be interested in buying the size 36 silk knickers, but Westernhanger Auctioneers will put them under the hammer on Sunday, October 12.

“This is definitely one of the strangest items I have ever had the opportunity to sell in my 40-odd years in the business,” auctioneer Michael Hogben told the Mirror.

“The underwear was gifted to a member of staff for their good service. They were passed down through the generations, and they are in exquisite condition because they’ve spent the last 75 years in a drawer.

“This really is a once in a blue moon sale. Things like this don’t come around very often. It’s amazing to think that this is something that once brushed the Royal rear.”
