Every year, royal fans are treated to the royal-spotting extravaganza known as the Braemar Games.

Held in the Scottish Highlands, the traditional event has been a staple in the calendars of royal family members for decades, and as each September rolls around, there’s one thing we’re thinking about – who will be in attendance this year?

Well, as the event took place over the weekend, we certainly weren’t disappointed.

As per usual, the Queen made her grand entrance, this time in a fetching bright purple outfit.

Smiling brightly to the crown as she arrived by car, Her Majesty looked as though she’s had a lovely summer spending her time at the nearby Scottish estate of Balmoral.

This year, the Queen would have no doubt been delighted as her son and grandson joined her for the big event.

Prince Charles and Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, joined the Queen alongside their wives Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Autumn Phillips, respectively.

While the weather certainly looked a little chilly, the royals still managed to look great in their fashionable ensembles.

Camilla opted for a bright pink-red toned jacket and matching hat, while Autumn looked chic in an olive green coat.

Oh, and did we mention there was plenty of tartan?

The Queen is patron of the Autumn event, which attracted a crowd of 15,000 this year.

The historic event includes a number of field games, including hammer throwing, caber tossing and even a tug of war.

While the event is held just as the UK summer comes to an end, the weather seemed quite wintry, with the royals rugging up with blankets and thick clothing to brave the elements during the outdoor event.

No chilly knees where the Queen is concerned!

It is understood British PM Boris Johnson was hosted by the Queen at her Scottish residence of Balmoral the evening before the big event, however he did not attend the games themselves.

But the royals certainly weren’t missing out on the festivities.

Along with the games, Pipe bands and Highland dancers also performed throughout the day.

Another year, another spectacle at the Braemar games!

The games mark the beginning of the end of the royals’ summer away.

Over the next month, we’ll begin to see the royals return to their usual duties, with the Queen herself expected to return back home to Buckingham Palace at the beginning of October.
