Next week will mark a very special occasion for Prince William and Duchess Catherine – their daughter Princess Charlotte is starting school!

In very exciting news, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have revealed plans for the very important milestone, which will take place on Thursday September 5.

According to HELLO!, the four-year-old will be accompanied by her parents – and older brother Prince George – on her first day at Thomas’s Battersea and the occasion will likely be marked with a photo-call of the young family before she begins her first lesson.

Charlotte has been attending nursery at Willcocks Nursery in Kensington since June 2018, and will begin in “Reception”, the British equivalent of kindergarten, with her older brother heading into Year Two – and we can’t believe they’re both so grown up!

In her first year, Charlotte will take part in French, Computing, Art, Music, Drama and Ballet and will work on her handwriting, including drawing and letters, which makes us wonder, do the Royals get a coveted “pen licence” once they are 11 years old too?

According to the school’s website, the young royal will “play and explore”, as well as “making choices and learn to have a go and persevere, be creative and solve problems, form good relationships, be safe, secure and happy.”

The first day will also be important for Duchess Catherine, who missed out on taking Prince George to school on his first day in 2017.

At the time, she was pregnant with little Prince Louis, and was suffering from acute morning sickness, known as hyperemesis gravidarum.

Earlier this year, the Headmaster at her school, Simon O’Malley revealed they were “delighted” that Charlotte would be joining the school.

“We are delighted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided that Princess Charlotte will join her elder brother, Prince George, at Thomas’s Battersea. We greatly look forward to welcoming her and all of our new pupils to the school in September.”

It seems George is also quite excited for his sister to join him at school.

In a new report from PEOPLE earlier this week, it was revealed Charlotte is really excited about starting “big school”.

“She can’t wait to be with George at big school,” an insider told the publication. “She is so excited about it all.”

George has attended the school for the last two years, and is known as “George Cambridge” among teachers and students.

It seems he’s settled in well and he’ll be happy to help younger sister Charlotte do the same.

“They are close in age, and they spend so much time together,” the source continued.

They explained that playdates with other children who aren’t as well known to the family “can be tricky”.

“So they learn to lean on each other.”
