In a tribute to the late Queen, William revealed it was the royals’ first time overseas since his grandmother’s passing.

“Catherine and I are delighted to be back in the United States and are extremely grateful to Governor Baker and The First Lady of Massachusetts for their warm welcome into Boston,” he said.

“On this, our first overseas visit since the death of my grandmother, I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts and particularly of Boston for their many tributes paid to the late Queen. She remembered her 1976 bicentennial visit with great fondness.

“My grandmother was one of life’s optimists. And so am I. That is why last year we launched the Earthshot Prize with the ambition to create a truly global platform to inspire hope and urgent optimism as we look to save the future of our planet.”

The following day, Kate and William attended the Boston Celtics basketball game. While the couple appeared delighted as they cheered form the sidelines, they received some boos!

ITV News royal correspondent Chris Ship reported there had been some cheers for the couple, but also “some boos along with the chants of ‘USA, USA’.”

“Some say it was expected at the Boston team @celtics with such strong Irish roots. But, still, not something the Royals get very often,” he wrote on Twitter.

In the following day, Prince William met with President Joe Biden meanwhile Kate spoke at Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child.

In a grand finale, the couple finished their trip to Boston looking glamorous at the Earthshot Prize award ceremony. Kate made another tribute to Princess Diana as she wore her emerald and diamond choker paired with a bright green gown by Solace London.

The necklace has not been seen since Diana donned the piece as a headband in 1985 during her tour of Australia with at-the-time Prince Charles. The piece became iconic, but it was reportedly a mistake after the late Princess attempted to fit the necklace over her head when it became stuck.
