If you’re after a little boost to get your through the week, this might be it.

When Prince William and Duchess Catherine wrapped up a three day tour of the UK this week with one final surprise – a reunion with their close family members – royal fans thought they’d hit the jackpot.

The final stop of their whirlwind tour was Windsor Castle, conveniently, the very place The Queen is currently residing. And given they were in the area, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince Edward and Sophie of Wessex also decided to pop by to say hello.

It was an undeniably glorious moment, one that royal fans had been devoid of for the most part of the year given COVID-19 restrictions had forced the family to make individual appearances, if any.

But as the appearance drew to a close, there was one last moment that really sent fans into an abyss of warm fuzziness.

As The Queen made her way back up the steps and into Windsor Castle, Prince William could be heard calling out, “Bye, Gran”.

The sentence itself isn’t such a big deal – it’s the way plenty of us would bid, or have bidded a grandparent goodbye in the past.

But given this is the Queen of England we’re talking about, it’s quite a nice reminder that the royals really are just like us.

The royal appearance was even more welcomed given the recent news that the family would spend this Christmas away from Sandringham this year – a tradition that’s lasted over three decades.

That means there’ll be no royal walkabout after the usual Christmas morning church service there – a feat that’s left many fans in despair given it’s such a long-standing tradition.

Of course, our glimpse of the royals together this week certainly served its purpose for us royal fanatics – and there was no denying the Christmas cheer it brought.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll no doubt hear more from them as the annual Christmas cards are released, and The Queen records her annual Christmas message.

Stay tuned!
