Their love story is something straight out of a fairytale, so it’s no surprise that Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge continue to be one of our favourite famous couples.
And what a journey their romance has been! More than 10 years ago, a Prince married his Princess and it was the stuff of dreams.
After meeting a young Kate Middleton at St Andrew’s University back in 2001, the pair became fast friends before starting a romantic relationship two years later.
Though the duo had their ups and downs – and even a brief split – nothing could stop their love and William knew he had found The One.
In 2010, a besotted William popped the question on a trip to Kenya, presenting Kate with his late mother’s engagement ring. Naturally, Kate said yes!
A year later in April 2011 they both said “I do” in a lavish wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey, and in the decade since they’ve travelled all over the globe while working tirelessly on issues like mental health, child bereavement and equality.
But the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s biggest adventure was when they welcomed their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
And to think it all started with one little question from William so many years ago.

The college sweethearts fell in love during their time at St Andrew’s Univerity together and William decided to propose in October 2010 after years together. Their happy news was announced to the world on November 16, 2010.

William said of his proposal: “We had a little private time away together with some friends and I just decided that it was the right time really. We had been talking about marriage for a while so it wasn’t a massively big surprise. I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya and I proposed.”

“We obviously met at university – at St Andrews we were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed from then on,” Will once mused of his romance with Catherine.

Though the pair split for a short time before they wed, Kate looks back on it positively: “I think at the time I wasn’t very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person.”
