Prince William accepts role as air ambulance pilot

The Duke of Cambridge is to become a helicopter pilot with East Anglian Air Ambulance, Kensington Palace has announced.

The Duke of Cambridge is to become a helicopter pilot with East Anglian Air Ambulance, Kensington Palace has announced.

After completing a mandatory period of training this autumn and winter, Prince William will start work with the Air Ambulance, based at Cambridge and Norwich Airports and flying both day and night shifts, next spring. The Duke will start as a co-pilot but, after a period of training, will be qualified to fly as a helicopter commander.

The statement from Kensington Palace said William’s roster will take into account his royal duties and responsibilities, which he will continue.

The 32-year-old royal will donate his salary in full to charity and it’s expected that he, Kate and Prince George will relocate from Kensington Palace to Anmer Hall on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate.

Prince William has been lured back into the skies with pilot job at the East Anglian Air Ambulance service.
