Prince Louis turns two today, and to celebrate, the Palace just dropped four heavenly new pictures of the ridiculously cute royal.

Of course, the current climate has resulted in a rather different celebration for the growing toddler this year.

Mum Duchess Catherine and Dad Prince William are currently isolating at their country home in Norfolk, with their three young children George, six, Charlotte, four and Louis amid the COVID-19 health pandemic.

But despite staying indoors, the family have still found a way to celebrate the momentous occasion with the world – and the new pictures have gone above and beyond our expectations.

And that’s not least because of how adorable the young birthday boy is.

Sharing the new images on the eve of his second birthday, Louis is seen putting his artistic skills to use with rainbow coloured paint.

His clothing choice was rather risky given his activity – a blue and white checkered shirt was bound to get a few paint splatters here and there. But all in the name of good fun, of course!

Ever the photographic whiz, the images were snapped by shutterbug Catherine herself earlier this month at their country home Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

Such a clean shirt, surely headed for a rainbow paint disaster?! Brave choice from Louis (and his mum!)

New images like these of the young royals come few and far between, and this marks a rare glimpse at how quickly Louis is growing up.

We last saw the royal in March when his parents posted a sweet video to the Cambridge’s Instagram account, Kensington Royal, in March.

Standing beside his older brother George and sister Charlotte, Louis was seen clapping his hands as the siblings partook in the Clap for Carers initiative which hailed those working on the frontline amid the COVID-19 crisis.

While Louis’ special day is undoubtedly different to any he’ll likely celebrate again in the near future, the royals knew how to make the best of it.

In fact, it was only two days ago that the royals celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s 94th birthday, which was also marked with some special social media tributes.

Louis’ parents Catherine and William led the royal pack with an Instagram tribute featuring a sweet image of the Duke and Duchess alongside the Queen.

“Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 94th birthday today! 🎂🎈,” they wrote.

Louis’ older brother and sister are currently being homeschooled at their country abode, with Catherine and William providing fans a rare update on how things were going during an interview on BBC Breakfast last week.

During the segment, Kate admitted that she’d sort of short changed her young children by deciding to omit crucial information about the school holidays.

“Don’t tell the children, we’ve actually kept [home schooling] going through the holidays. I feel very mean,” Catherine told BBC journalist Tina Daheley.

As for young Louis, he’ll likely be delighted to simply have his older siblings around a little more to run amok with.

Here’s hoping he’s having a special birthday!
