It's no surprise that the royal family is private. But it is rare that they speak out about things in their personal life. However, Prince Harry recently opened up about a secret charity visit he had with his wife-to-be, Meghan Markle.
The 33-year-old shared details from the trip in a speech at the Veterans' Mental Health Conference in London on Thursday, March 15.
"I have seen those I have served with suffer, struggling to seek out the help they desperately need. And we know there are more just like them who continue to suffer in silence. And when the individual doesn't or can't reach out for help, it is also their families who suffer; especially their spouses and children, who are left feeling desperate and confused as they try to seek appropriate help for the ones they love," the veteran explained, according to Entertainment Tonight.
In fact, it really made an impact on the duo.
"Some of the stories Meghan and I heard when we visited Colchester Garrison a few weeks ago shocked us to our core."
Harry — who often raises awareness for mental health — continued by sharing what many service men and women struggle with today.
"Anger, isolation, violence, substance misuse, all stem from the same place – and these are not unique to the military. To truly make a difference to veterans and their families, of course, we must help those in need, but we must focus on solving the problem at source," he said. "For me, this issue is personal. My time in the Army gave me the strongest respect for everyone who wears the uniform. It is a community I am proud to belong to, and I will always seek out anyway that I can to support it."
This apparently isn't Meghan's first private visit with her hubby -- Meghan mastered royal protocol at record speed.
A palace source told People, "Meghan has been regularly making private visits to organizations as she gets to know the UK charity sector. She's on a very busy schedule behind the scenes. She has her wedding preparation and is meeting a number of people all the time — from Harry's charities, staff at the household, and the Royal Foundation."
And even though she's busy with appearances (some more emotional than others), Meghan still can't wait to become part of the royal family.
"She's 100 percent committed to [Harry]," a source told Life & Style. "Meghan's really ready to take on all the responsibilities that come with being part of the royal family."
