Prince Harry’s subtle comment to Meghan at the WellChild Awards will melt your heart

From day dot, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s affection for each other has been clear.

It didn’t take long for the pair to make things official by getting engaged, and then married within a couple of years of their first fateful meeting.

But now, Prince Harry has proved his love and affection for his wife like never before – and we’re a little giddy about it, if truth be told.

Attending the annual WellChild Awards on Tuesday evening in London, Harry and Meghan’s emotional night out was laid bare for all to see.

The awards, which are held each year to support and highlight the bravery of seriously ill children and their families, were an incredible opportunity for the royals to share some special moments with those the charity helps.

As a patron, Harry has attended the awards for a number of years, and is always in his very best element when they roll around.

This year proved to be no different. The pair met with some of the award winners in a private room before the awards began, and it was there that Prince Harry showed his softer side.

10-year-old Emmie Narayn-Nicholas, who won an award at the colourful event, had a candid conversation with the royals, which was later relayed to HELLO!.

“When [Meghan] sat down I said, ‘Oh, you look amazing and you’ve just had a baby,” her mother Eve explained.

“[Harry] looked at her and went, ‘See, I told you!’ in a way that we would.”

Too cute! Eve also added that the couple were “very down to earth.”

Last year’s awards marked the first time Harry took his wife Meghan along with him, and the emotion and love between the pair was made patently clear even then.

Explaining this further in his speech at the awards on Tuesday, Harry explained how he and Meghan had secretly found out they were expecting a child ahead of last year’s ceremony.

“I remember squeezing Meghan’s hand so tight during the awards, both of us thinking what it would be like to be parents one day, and more so, what it would be like to do everything we could to protect and help our child should they be born with immediate challenges or become unwell over time,” he said.

Harry broke down in tears as he emotionally relayed his renewed feelings of emotion upon meeting the award winners, explaining they have only strengthened after he himself has become a father.

“Now, as parents, being here and speaking to all of you pulls at my heart strings in a way I could have never understood until I had a child of my own,” he said.

The poignant evening came after a busy few weeks for the new parents, who just completed their 10-day tour of South Africa.

The pair brought their son, Archie, along with them for the overseas trip, providing the world a highly anticipated glimpse of the adorable 5-month-old, who looks exactly like his father.

Suffice to say there’s a lot of love in this family.
