Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have been spotted in public together in their new city of Los Angeles – and their unexpected outing was for a very special reason.

In March, the pair made a last minute call to fly to LA, where Meghan grew up and where her mother, Doria Ragland resides.

While they no doubt wanted to take time to settle into their new city, the COVID-19 pandemic has made things a little harder, with the pair instead opting to keep a low profile and isolate themselves in their new home.

That said, the crisis has certainly spurred them into taking action in other, unexpected ways – and their latest foray is case in point.

This month, the pair were spotted by onlookers in West Hollywood making some special food deliveries to those in need.

Speaking to a local publication there, one man from the community explained his star-struck moment.

“I thought that tall red-headed guy looked pretty familiar, and that girl was very pretty. Then I saw the large black SUVs with the security guards behind them,” Dan Tyrell told WeHoville.

He continued: “They were both nice and very down-to earth people. They had masks on, and they were dressed down with jeans, but very nice jeans.”

It appears the couple were making the deliveries in line with Project Angel Food, which is a non-profit delivering food to people who are suffering serious illness.

The charity has continued to run throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which made for a perfect opportunity for Harry and Meghan to help out.

The CEO of the organisation, Richard Ayoub also spoke to the local publication, telling them he was delighted by the couple’s offer to help.

“They wanted to help us relieve some of the drivers from their workload. So they made deliveries in West Hollywood today. It’s really, really amazing. We loved having them and they are the most down-to-earth people.”

The pair have been utilising the down time to support people affected by the health crisis.

The Duke and Duchess have been working behind the scenes to do their bit for people most affected by the health crisis.

Earlier this week, it was revealed the pair had donated the excess funds from their wedding broadcast back in May to Feeding Britain.

The AUD$178,000 donation would go towards giving children in need a breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.

The new parents admired the charity’s work when they first came across them in January last year during a visit to Birkenhead, where they saw some of their food stores ready to be given to the community’s most vulnerable.

While Harry and Meghan continue to remain in a state of lockdown as they settle into LA, they certainly look to be utilising their time for the greater good.

In fact, we’ll no doubt be seeing more from the Duke and Duchess in the weeks to come as they launch their brand new foundation Archewell, which will be an umbrella for all of their current and future charity work they’re involved in.

Stay tuned, there’s a lot more to come where these two are concerned.
