Invitations to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been posted out to a handful of lucky guests, and thankfully (just in case our invitations get lost in the mail) we’ve all been given a glimpse at the nothing short of stunning creations.
Kensington Palace confirmed that formal invitations have been sent by the Prince of Wales, for the May 19 service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor. The invitations, posted just this week, were produced by Barnard and Westwood.
“The invitations follow many years of Royal tradition and have been made by Barnard Westwood,” a statement from the palace read alongside a photo of the royal invite. “They feature the Three-Feathered Badge of the Prince of Wales printed in gold ink.”
It’s clear a lot of thought have gone into the invitations, as the palace notes that “using American ink on English card, the invitations are printed in gold and black, then burnished to bring out the shine, and gilded around the edge.”
The invitations read: “His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales KG KT requests the pleasure of the company of……. at the marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales with Ms Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on Saturday 19th May, 2018 at 12 Noon followed by a reception at Windsor Castle.”
Around 600 people have been invited to the service, with a select 200 close friends invited to an after party at Frogmore House on the castle grounds. Of course, that’s where the royal couple took their stunning engagement photos and it’s also where they spent time together as their relationship blossomed.
“Guests have been invited to the service at St George’s Chapel and to the lunchtime reception at St George’s Hall, which is being given by Her Majesty The Queen,” Kensington Palace tweeted. “Later that evening, around 200 guests are being invited to the reception at Frogmore House given by The Prince of Wales.”

Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, recently announced their unique choice of wedding cake — and it’s clear the former actress had something to do with the decision!
“For their wedding cake Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have chosen pastry chef Claire Ptak, owner of the London-based bakery @violetcakes,” Kensington Palace wrote on twitter.
The palace then dished on the elusive flavour, confirming, “Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have asked Claire to create a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring. It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.”
“Claire Ptak, who was raised in California, focuses on using seasonal and organic ingredients in her cakes.”
The royals revealed that Meghan already has a close connection to the baker, writing, “Ms. Markle previously interviewed Chef Ptak for her former lifestyle website The Tig. Prince Harry and Ms. Markle are looking forward to sharing the cake with guests at their wedding at Windsor Castle on May 19th.”
Claire’s bakery is said to make “American style” cakes, and as you’d imagine this job is definitely the icing on her career-cake!
About the exciting job, Claire said, “I can’t tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding cake. Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and most importantly flavour, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of.”
