For someone who last year described herself and her husband as “like salt and pepper. We always move together”, the Duchess of Sussex sure has been absent from Prince Harry’s side as the fallout from his book continues.
Despite her husband’s two-month media blitz across Los Angeles, New York and London, 41-year-old Meghan was yet to be seen in public at the time of going to press.
The Ripple of Hope Award Gala in New York was the last time they were seen together.
(Image: Getty)At first, it was believed that Meghan was simply “giving Harry space” to promote Spare, but as the controversy limped on, rumours are swirling that there might be more to her strange absence.
CAMERA SHY?
“This is a woman who loves the camera, especially when there’s a chance to be photographed clutching her husband’s hand,” says a source.
“Spare was Harry’s memoir, but he pops up supportively in her media appearances, so it was expected that she would likely do the same for him.”
Instead, the duchess appears to have distanced herself from Harry’s book, which has been described by British royal commentator Dan Wootton as an attack on King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Woman’s Day’s insider says it is “obvious” Meghan wants no part in promoting Harry’s book and has “left him out in the cold”. Quite literally, it seems, given Harry was spotted looking morose as he walked the couple’s dog Pula in the pouring rain last month.
The last time Meghan and Harry, 38, were seen together, was on December 7 in New York, where they accepted a humanitarian award.
“It is baffling that they’ve been so publicly apart for 60 days, given the book reveal was the biggest moment of Harry’s professional life,” says the source.
“It’s unlike Meghan not to be front and centre, and her friends think she’s about to drop something big.”
Indeed, some insiders believe the actress is about to reboot her lifestyle blog The Tig, which she shut down when she and Harry first dated. “Harry had his book, but she wants something that’s all hers – and The Tig was her baby,” says our source.
