When it comes to fashion, it’s undeniable that Duchess Catherine and Duchess Meghan are dab hands – in every sense of the phrase.

Indeed, the sisters-in-law have proved their impeccable fashion sense time and time again, whether it’s a casual chic ensemble for a daytime public appearance, to lavish accessories and full glamour for black-tie soirees.

And as with many style icons, we can’t help but copycat their style – but in a surprising turn of events, the same apparently goes for royals.

Even before they were officially made Duchesses, the two royals were known to wear very similar styles from time to time.

And who could blame them? If we’re taking fashion cues from the daring Duchesses, then there’s no reason why they can’t themselves.

But it might not have been a simple coincidence. Before Meghan married Harry in May 2018, Middleton was reported to have given the bride-to-be some handy fashion advice as she prepared to enter the royal fold.

According to The Independent, the Duchess of Cambridge advised Markle on royal wardrobe protocol and how she will have to adapt to it in the future.

“She has provided Meghan with names of some of the favourite UK go-to designers on everything from dresses, coats and the all-important British hat,” a source told the publication.

Since then, Meghan has worn some of Kate’s favourite designers including Emilia Wickstead and Self Portrait, so it looks like the advice was well and truly taken on board!

The UK mightn’t be well known for its ample sunshine, but both Duchesses are bringing enough of it on their own in these very similar bright yellow frocks.

Duchess Meghan turned heads when she stepped out at Marlborough House in July 2018 in her bold-hued dress by Brandon Maxwell. Then, barely a week later, Duchess Catherine stood out from the crowd at Wimbledon in her almost-matching design by Dolce & Gabbana. (Images: Getty)

If you weren’t yet convinced the pair were taking style cues off each other, then this is your proof. Both Duchesses stepped out in these berry red ensembles on the same day in November 2018 – coincidence? We think not!

Like clockwork, both Duchesses again stepped out in these similar grey blazer and black pant ensembles in the same month.

Meghan wore her variation of the blazer (designed by none other than her long-time pal Serena Williams) during a visit to Dubbo in October 2018. Little more than a week later, Kate stepped out in London in a very similar chic tweed blazer by Smythe. (Images: Getty)

Kate’s engagement photos with Prince William were enough alone to get people talking back in 2010, but her navy blue Issa wrap dress was also a major talking point, and coveted by fans the world over.

In light of this, we can’t really blame Meghan for wearing a very similar design in 2016 for a dinner in Toronto – so chic! (Images: Getty)

And it appears royal-engagement-shoot-fashion is eternal. Kate’s Max Mara Studio coat worn during a visit to Portsmouth in 2015 looks strikingly similar to the Line The Label coat worn by <a href="https://www.nowtolove.com.au/royals/british-royal-family/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-engagement-photo-shoot-43140

In a true instance of ‘who wore it better?’ Meghan and Kate’s lace dresses are in fact the exact same style!

Designed by the revered Diane von Furstenberg, Meghan wore the navy version of the dress back in 2012 for Hollywood red carpet event, while Kate’s darker and slightly longer version was worn for the 2014 Royal Variety Performance. (Images: Getty)

Ladies in red! Kate’s stunning Preen frock (which she has since recycled in November this year was first worn by the Duchess in November 2016, but it was only a few months before that Meghan stepped out in a very similar gown for an appearance on the Today Show in July 2016. (Images: Getty)
