The Queen visited Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool yesterday for the official opening and was met by hundreds of well-wishers.

Then she came across sweet Lewis, a young boy who became burst into tears when greeted by the Queen.

Lewis – who suffers from Apert Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes premature development of the skull – was all dressed up in a suit and tie, but the Queen’s smile to appease the youngster.

The Queen wore a pale pink coat and dress by Stuart Palvin, and outfit we’ve seen before at the Royal Ascot a few years ago.

Her Majesty was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh at the hospital.
