Prince William and Kate Middleton have jetted off to the Isles of Scilly with their three children for a summer escape, according to Hello! Magazine.

The Cambridge family have reportedly taken up residence on the islands for the second year in a row.

In 2020, they were spotted cycling around the island of Tresco, one of the five main islands known for their sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.

Despite being located only 28 miles off the British coast, the islands are private, secluded and sub-tropical, making them a perfect escape for the royals.

William and Kate are understood to be staying there with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The family spent much of 2020 and part of 2021 in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, making this a welcome escape.

“It’s easy to see why any family – not least one that spends so much time in the public eye – would go there to try to get away from the rigours of daily life,” Jeff Reines, content editor of Corwnwall Live, told Hello! Magazine.

“It’s a close-knit community where the people are lovely and unobtrusive, so it’s the one place you can imagine William, Kate and the children walking around where nobody would approach them.”

The locals seem very respectful of the royals’ privacy, as few pictures have ever been released of the family on the islands.

In fact, Scilly locals seem to know exactly how to coexist with royal visitors on their islands – they’ve been doing it for years.

William brought his young family this year and last, but his first visits to the islands were actually as a child.

He holidayed there in the 1980s with his parents, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, and brother Prince Harry.

And William isn’t the only royal who has returned to Scilly in recent years, with Prince Charles also making a few visits to the area.

He and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, have been known to stop by for their own private getaways from time to time.

As for the Cambridges, there’s no clear sign of how long they plan to stay in Scilly, but we have no doubt they’re enjoying the break from their hectic royal lives.

One local told Hello! Magazine: “I saw William and Kate having a meal by themselves at a lovely restaurant that was on the beach.”

“They didn’t have any of their children with them, so it looked like it was a romantic night out. They looked really happy and relaxed.”
