This week has been a sartorial win for Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, as she has donned some of her most striking looks to date.

It was only yesterday when she left our jaws agape as she elegantly strolled down the red carpet for the premiere of No Time to Die in a glittery gold Jenny Packham gown.

Now, Kate has moved our fashion-loving hearts during her visit to Londonderry in Northern Ireland with husband Prince William by wearing a bold purple pantsuit.

The stand-out colour is a unique choice that absolutely thrills on the duchess, and she styled it perfectly with a black turtle neck, belt, and navy suede pumps, which helped bring a more subdued finish to the outfit.

Kate is usually photographed in neutral colours, so this explosion of purple bliss designed by Emilia Wickstead, one of the royal’s favourite labels, is particularly exciting.

According to Vogue, the bold colour choice is “right on trend” because brands like Thebe Magugu, Lafayette 148, and Jil Sanders have all designed bright suits on the runway.

The royal couple spent the day talking to the young people of Londonderry and engaging with the broader communities to help foster “positive relations”, as per Hello Magazine’s reports.

William and Kate began their day at Ulster University’s Magee campus to discuss their experience studying during the pandemic and “undertaking placements on the frontline of the COVID-19 response in Northern Ireland.”

They were given a tour of the campus, and they saw a simulated ambulance built to help train the first-year group in the BSc Hons Paramedic Science Programme in Northern Ireland.

Afterwards, they met with the first medical students accepted into the new School of Medicine at the University.

However, perhaps most excitedly or terrifyingly, Kate “showed no fear” when she held a tarantula named Charlotte.

The Duchess of Cambridge was asked to hold the spider at the uni’s petting zoo, which KidzFarms organised to help students navigate their mental health and anxiety issues.

When the spider began moving up Kate’s hand, William hilariously quipped, “Maybe she’s not so keen on purple, or she maybe thinks you’re a flower.”

Kate’s bold pantsuit is going to live in our minds rent-free, and if you’re feeling the same, look through these affordable dupes to update your own wardrobe with the trend.
