James Middleton has wed fiancée Alizée Thevenet in secret almost two years after announcing their engagement.

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge were among the guests, as well as other close friends and family of the couple.

James took to Instagram to confirm the happy news, sharing a sunny photo of him and his new wife beaming at the camera.

“Mr & Mrs Middleton ❤️ 🇬🇧 🇫🇷” he captioned the selfie, which showed off Alizée’s unique engagement ring.

James wore a cream coloured blazer and blue shirt, while the new Mrs Middleton opted for a delicate off-the-shoulder number.

It’s unclear if these were their outfits for the ceremony or if they changed into more relaxed styles for their reception.

“Yesterday I married the love of my life surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs in the beautiful village or Bormes-les-Mimosas.

“Words cannot describe how happy I am ❤️”

Their happy news comes after two years of planning and multiple setbacks, as the coronavirus pandemic forced James and Alizée to postpone their nuptials twice.

The couple travelled to France, Alizée’s home country, for their nuptials, which took place at French village of Bormes-les-Mimosas on the famous Côte d’Azur.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the destination wedding, as did sister Pippa Middleton and their parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, according to reports.

James and Alizée are also believed to have included their beloved dogs in the ceremony somehow.

One of the pooches is even visible over the couple’s shoulders in the celebratory photos James posted to Instagram.

The dogs are very special to the pair, and one of James’ pups named Ella even played a role in their first meeting.

“The two of us (Ella and me) were at the South Kensington Club in Chelsea,” he told The Telegraph.

“Ella was lying at my feet under the table; realising she might want some water, I trusted her to take herself over to the water bowl across the terrace.

“However, she made a beeline for Alizée. Rather embarrassed, I went over to apologise and bring Ella back.”

There was some confusion – Alizée thought James was her waiter at first – but the couple eventually got to chatting and the rest, as they say, is history.
