Living the dream: Inside Prince George’s idyllic childhood

A country setting is proving to be the perfect place to raise the Future King of England.

According to a new report from People magazine Prince George, who recently celebrated his third birthday, has grown into “a proper little chap.”

“He’s a little boy now,” a family friend tells People.

Determined to raise their first-born just like any other child, Duchess Catherine and Prince William are doing a spectacular job with locals telling the publication the three-year-old already has impeccable manners.

A witness reveals that George’s charming etiquette was put on display when Duchess Catherine took him to a cafe near their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk recently.

“Kate said to George, ‘Ask the nice lady what you would like to have.’ And George said, ‘Excuse me nice lady, but can I have’… and pointed to a cake on the counter,” the onlooker recounts of the adorable moment.

Meanwhile the People cover story has also shed light on George’s carefree nature, with a source describing a particularly hilarious phone call while William and Catherine were away on their royal tour of India and Bhutan.

People claim George asked his parents on the phone if “Mummy” was home yet and when he found out she was still overseas, he simply chirped “Okay, bye!” Before hanging up the phone.

The curious young royal is said to adore heading to the park to play on the fire truck and zip around on his scooter.

However, life at Norfolk certainly isn’t permanent with the Cambridge clan indebted to their royal duties. Just this week, it was announced that William and Catherine will embark on their second royal tour for the year, with the couple set to visit Canada.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Canada this autumn at the invitation of the Canadian Government. TRH hold very happy memories from their last visit to Canada in 2011 – their first overseas tour as a married couple,” the announcement explained.

Speculation has already mounted as to whether they’ll bring along Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Although they didn’t bring them to India earlier in the year, George did accompany them on their tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2014.

As for how long the family of four will be able to live at Anmer Hall is reportedly up to The Queen to decide.

“The moment that [Prince] Charles becomes King, it’s over. William will definitely have to come down to London and Kate too,” royal historian Robert Lacey tells People.
