In an exciting new development for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby Archie, the date for his royal christening has been revealed – and it’s set for a very special date.

In a new report from respected royal reporter Emily Nash at Hello!, it is understood Archie is set to have a private christening at St George’s Chapel – the very same place his parents were married little more than a year ago.

But it’s not just the special location that’s got fans excited – it’s the impending date and guest list that’s sent us into a frenzy, because it’s very soon…

When will Archie’s christening be?

In Hello!‘s report, it is understood the christening will be a rather intimate occasion with less than 25 people in attendance.

The ceremony itself is set to take place on July 6, which is just two days after the United States’ widely celebrated Independence Day, which takes place on July 4.

The baptism date itself will also mark the exact date baby Archie turns two months old – as he was born on May 6. Oh how time flies!

Which guests will attend Archie’s christening?

Expected to be in attendance at the ceremony are Archie’s proud grandparents – Prince Charles and wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Also in attendance will be Meghan’s mum and Archie’s doting grandma Doria Ragland, who will be flying in from the United States, and more than likely, Prince William and Duchess Catherine.

A slew of very important guests are expected to attend the big day.

As for the couple’s slew of A-list friends, it is expected that tennis legend Serena Williams will also attend the event, especially given she is already in the UK competing in Wimbledon, which takes place this week.

Also expected to attend is the Duchesses long-time pal Jessica Mulroney, who will also fly in from Toronto.

Meghan and Harry have friends in high places, and they’re all rallying to support Archie on his big day.

Who else is in the running to be Archie’s godparents?

Hello!‘s report suggests that both Serena Williams and Jessica Mulroney are in the running to become godparents to baby Archie.

Also likely to receive the coveted title of godparent to the new royal is Harry’s mentor Mark Dyer, who is known to be close with the royals especially after his son Jasper was pageboy in their May 2018 wedding.

Soho House director Markus Anderson is also in the running given his close ties with the couple.

While the aforementioned names sound like quite the list, it’s likely that all of the above will be chosen to be godparents.

As per royal tradition, royal babies are usually granted around eight godparents – so we’re expecting quite the line-up!

What will the christening entail?

As with many traditional royal christenings, it is expected that the Archbishop of Canterbury will baptise Archie.

The Archbishop also baptised Meghan before she married Prince Harry in 2018, so it makes sense for him to do the same for baby Archie.

As for the ceremony itself, a Lily Font is expected to be used which will hold water from the River Jordan in which to baptise Archie. The River Jordan is where Jesus was baptised in the bible.

Archie is expected to wear the same christening gown as his cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.

With the above in mind, it would be safe to say we can’t wait to see how this ceremony plays out (and to see what Meghan wears!).

Stay tuned!
