10 hours after giving birth, how did the Duchess look THI$ GOOD?

Rest easy, ladies. It takes more than $8000 to achieve this post-birth “glow.”

This soon after giving birth, most mums barely have the energy to waddle across the room. But the Duchess of Cambridge apparently possesses magical powers – how else does one explain how she appeared, beaming, on the steps of St Mary’s Lindo Wing with tumbling curls, a perfect complexion, and, most astonishingly, in high heels?

Some commentators on a Russian newspaper website are today making headlines for bizarrely claiming that a surrogate mother must carried her baby girl because it’s “impossible” a woman could look that polished so soon after labour.

But Catherine hardly rolled straight from the birthing suite to wave at the photographers. Woman’s Day can reveal that this superhuman feat did not come cheaply, with the Duchess racking up more than $8000 from the palace’s beauty and styling budget.

Cradling her baby daughter looking pretty as a picture in yellow, Kate’s floral Jenny Packham frock is worth an eye-watering $4360 – not to mention her $700 Jimmy Choo heels (we’d still prefer a pair of slippers though!) and $2000 earrings.

Even before slipping into an outfit worth most than many mere commoners’ wardrobes combined, Kate was also primped and preened for hours by her trusted stylist and gatekeeper of the royal blow-dry, Amanda Cook Tucker, whose services cost $580 before travel expenses.

It’s a daunting prospect facing the world’s media just hours after giving birth and Kate Middleton made sure every aspect was accounted for.

We’re told she uses Kate’s preferred Bobbi Brown make-up arsenal, which worth at least $340. Kate’s a massive fan of their Brightening Finishing Powder for that new-mum glow.

Just before the first labour pains, Kate also prepped for her first photo op as the mother of a baby princess by getting a $100 manicure and religiously applying her favourite Deborah Mitchell bee venom face cream.

If only we all had access to the House of Windsor’s purse strings!
