After an extraordinary season of dramatic blind auditions, heartbreak, tears, and some of the most powerful voices we’re ever heard, the winner of The Voice 2022 has been crowned!

Sunday night’s grand finale saw epic performances from finalists Thando Sikwila, Jordan Tavita, Lachie Gill and Faith Sosene, but it was ultimately Lachie who took out the public vote.

Along with the winning title, Lachie has walked away with $100,000 in prize money and a recording contract with Universal Music Australia.

Lachie expressed shock after being crowned the winner, telling the crowd: “Oh my god.. I never expected this and I’m just blown away. Thank you.”

His coach Rita Ora couldn’t have been happier, telling her mentee: “This is amazing. I’m so happy for you. I can’t breathe!”

In the epic finale showdown, Lachie blew us away with Cindi Lauper’s Time After Time as well as a moving duet with Rita of Lady Gaga’s Always Remember Us This Way.

“What a privilege it was to share the stage with such an amazing person and incredible artist. Thankyou @ritaora A moment I will never forget,” Lachie wrote on Instagram of his duet with Rita.

To finish off the unforgettable night, the former AFL player then performed his brand new single, Wasted Time.

Lachie was a clear frontrunner from the start. The 24-year-old blew the audience and the judges away in his Blind Audition with If The World Was Ending by JP Saxe and Julia Michaels.

“I couldn’t have been happier with [being paired with Rita]. From the start has put so much belief in me and started to build up my confidence because that was the one thing that was lacking at the start,” he told TV WEEK on Thursday.

“I was constantly like: ‘These people around me have such big voices’ and I guess my voice isn’t that big, booming voice.

“It was hard at the start to try and put that belief in myself but she gave me that push. She kept telling me: ‘You deserve to be here. You’ve got something special.'”
