It’s the reality TV show guessing game that has the nation hooked.

As armchair experts around the country share their wild and wonderful theories as to which famous faces are behind the extravagant costumes on The Masked Singer, there’s one character in particular fans reckon they’ve had in the bag from the get-go.

Enter one mysterious yet insanely talented Bushranger.

With her thunderous vocals and smooth dance moves, viewers are convinced the Bushranger is Jessica Mauboy.

Weighing in on the matter this week, the show’s resident Cactus, aka Lucy Durack, shared her very compelling take on who the mysterious Ned Kelly type figure is – and her theory is now gaining traction.

“[As for Bushranger,] I thought Jessica Mauboy originally but now I’m thinking Bonnie Anderson,” Lucy told us in an exclusive chat, going on to reveal she reckons it’s the Neighbours actress and singer behind the mask.

“But I thought maybe it’s Bonnie because I was signing in Carols By Candlelight a couple of years ago and I heard a voice and I thought it was Jessica Mauboy… but it was Bonnie! So that’s why I thought, maybe it’s her,” the Doctor Doctor star mused.

Aside from Bonnie and Jess’ vocals sounding alike, several of the clues shared on the show also point to it being the actress.

“As for a clue for the costume, her character on Neighbours dated both ‘Ned’ and Finn ‘Kelly’, put the two together and you have Ned Kelly,” one clever sleuth noted online.

Twitter speculation also notes references to her winning the first season of Australia’s Got Talent and her single Blackout.

In yet another telling clue Bonnie could be on The Masked Singer, her Wikipedia page was curiously updated to claim that she was the powerful voice behind the Bushranger.

According to the Daily Mail, superfan Torin Chen managed to grab a screenshot of the fresh edit to Bonnie’s Wikipedia page shortly before it was removed.

Pop singer Bonnie Anderson first found fame in 2002 on Australia’s Got Talent. Just 12-years-old at the time, the young singer took the talent competition by storm and won the grand final.

“I went on the show [and] I sung my little heart out the best I could. I loved being on there it was such a cool experience,” Bonnie told TV WEEK of her win.

In 2018, she joined the cast of Neighbours playing the fierce and fiery character Bea Nilsson.

Meanwhile when Jess, who is the voice behind hit singles such as Fallin’, Burn and Little Things, was point-blank asked this week if she was indeed the Bushranger during an appearance on The Project, she offered a swift denial.

“Oh, no! Definitely not,” the 31-year-old laughed.

“That’s exactly what someone who’s on it would say,” the show’s host Waleed Aly quipped back.

She certainly wouldn’t be the first famous face to deny being on the show (we’re looking at you, Sophie Monk). After all, the contestants must sign strict non-disclosure agreements in a bid to keep their identities under wraps until their unmasking.

Whoever you are Bushranger, we salute those pipes!
