No one was more shocked when Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull walked out of The Block without warning than their fellow Blockheads.

Scotty Cam couldn’t believe it when producers told him the Bondi couple had quit, leaving the show after just two days of filming.

“I’ve just found out that Joel and Elle are on their way to the airport. They have left the show. Gone, they are gone,” Scotty revealed to the cast in episode two.

“They didn’t say goodbye, they didn’t say ‘thanks for having us’, they just left.”

When the other Blockheads asked why the Bondi couple had quit, Scotty confessed he didn’t have any answers.

“They understood that this was a reality show, but it wasn’t their reality,” he said, adding that he’d been told the show wasn’t “on brand” for Joel and Elle.

The shocking walk out caused some serious fallout on the show as the other contestants voiced their disbelief and scrambled to clean up Joel and Elle’s house.

And boy, did the 2022 Blockheads have a lot to say about it.

See everything the rest of The Block 2022 cast have said about Joel and Elle’s exit on the show since.

“It was a bombshell,” said Sharon after Scotty Cam announced Joel and Elle had quit in episode two.

But Sarah-Jane revealed to the rest of the cast: “I saw that coming. They didn’t make any effort to get to know us, they looked miserable the whole time.

“I heard that they were like ‘I can’t wear that, that doesn’t represent us’ and this and that.”

In a piece to camera with producers, she called it a major “told you so” moment and claimed she saw it coming a mile away.

“At the room reveal they sort of thought they were out,” added Tom, Sarah-Jane confirming they seemed “sour”.

Meanwhile tradie contestants Dylan and Jenny called the walk-out “crazy” as they wondered why Joel and Elle would give up “such an amazing opportunity”.

There were cheers from the other Blockheads when it was revealed that a new couple would be replacing the influencers.

“I’m glad someone is getting the opportunity that’s going to appreciate it,” Sarah-Jane said, joking “don’t bring them from Bondi”.

But Sharon and Ankur had more to say when they moved into the house Joel and Elle had been renovating, where they were shocked at the mess the couple left behind.

“Holy crap! We’ll spend the next 12 weeks cleaning it,” Ankur exclaimed.

“I’ve got nothing against the previous tenants, they have their own s—t going on, they left. But the house, it was literally like a robbery.”

Sharon confirmed it was “pretty messy” as cameras caught shots of McDonalds cups and bags, empty Gatorade bottles and more strewn about the house.

And though Joel and Elle didn’t appear in episode three, there were still a few cheeky remarks about the pair.

New couple Rachel and Ryan were spotted wearing the couple’s old hi-vis gear, though they’d crossed out Elle and Joel’s names in sharpie to write their own.

Meanwhile Scotty referred to the former contenders as “Bondi runaways Joel and Elle” in a voiceover as Rachel and Ryan inherited their tools.

We have a feeling the water isn’t quite under the bridge yet when it comes to this Block scandal.
