All season, one question has hung over every moment of The Block – who took the photo?

Snapped in the opening moments of the top-rating reality renovation series, a photograph of the program’s production schedule – complete with details of every challenge and which rooms were coming next – gave at least two of the teams an unfair advantage.

When it was discovered, it forced The Block host Scott Cam to completely rewrite the show.

That led to disrupted building plans, interrupted deliveries and more. But while Melbourne couple Tanya and Vito and Sydney twins Josh and Luke admitted they had seen the photo, they and every other contestant and builder denied being the ones who broke into Scott’s office to take it. Until now.

Moments after the final room judging last week, Josh and Luke returned to the studio and said, finally, that they had something to share.

“We’ve got some more things we want to talk about,” Luke said. “We’ve got one last thing we’d like to get off our chest – the cheating scandal.”

“Obviously, we know the truth and feel now is the time to say it,” Josh added. “This is the truth. This is what happened.”

“It absolutely irks me that people have fair dinkum looked me in the eye and told an outright lie,” Scott, 58, tells TV WEEK.

“I mean, in week one, someone broke into my office and took a photo. What the hell! Who does that? Who actually thinks to do something like that? And then who, for 12 weeks, flatly lies to my face? Well, finally we find out.”

Scott said he was stunned by what Josh and Luke had to tell him.

“I’ve been busting for somebody to tell me the truth, not ‘my truth’ or whatever, for the whole series. And now – finally – it’s going to get sorted out, which is a ripper. And I think a lot of people are going to be surprised.”

The bombshell is certain to turn this week’s final episode into one of the most tense moments in the series’ 18-year history.

The bombshell is certain to turn this week’s final episode – which includes the first time the contestants meet up since the renovations were completed – into one of the most tense moments in the series’ 18-year history.

“Everybody getting together for the auction order, and then hearing the reserve prices, will be spectacular,” Scott says. “And the actual auction? Really? I really don’t know.

“I’ve done 17 of these auction days and they’re all a bit different, but this one? It’s going to be a corker.”
