Matt and El’ise just can’t seem to get along on The Block.

The Perth parents-of-three are desperate for the win, but communication problems see them constantly snapping at each other. And this week, the cracks appear after El’ise has a go at Matt what she calls his “sore attitude”.

“You’re running on nothing, and you’re saying things you’re going to sit back later and say, ‘Why did I say that?'” El’ise, 33, tells TV WEEK.

The tough scenes aren’t shown on telly in El’ise and Matt’s home.

She says they’re arguing way more than they normally do, which is why she’s reluctant to let her children – Baxter, eight, Charlize, six, and five-year-old Maverick – watch The Block.

The youngsters have been excited about seeing their parents on TV, but El’ise and Matt are being selective about what they show them.

“There are hard times that Matt and I won’t let them watch – when I’m crying and upset, or if there’s an argument that looks like it’s more heated,” El’ise explains. “I don’t want my kids to see that – it’s not something we like to have them in front of the TV watching.

“We’re meant to be their pillars of strength. The last thing they need is to see us breaking down.”

Life at home is bliss!

The Block airs Monday to Wednesday, 7:30pm, and Sunday, 7pm, on Nine Network.
