Robert Colangelo is fast becoming one of Ali’s favourites on The Bachelorette Australia – but that hasn’t stopped viewers jumping to conclusions about his personal life.

Following his romantic date with Ali on last night’s episode, several Bachie fans took to social media to question the suitor over his sexuality.

“I like him but does anyone else get ummm how do I say it… a gay vibe?” asked one viewer.

Robert and Ali on their first single date.

But Robert, 29, says the rumours about whether he’s gay or bisexual don’t bother him whatsoever.

“I’m not worried about people calling me gay,” he tells TV WEEK.

“I’ve been called gay a few times in the past and I just think people are usually threatened. But I’m just being me and trying to represent myself in the best way I can. I’m not trying to be anyone I’m not.”

“If Ali likes it, she likes it. If she doesn’t, she doesn’t. I’m sure there will be other women out there that will.”

“If anything, I take it as a compliment – because it means I’m well dressed!”

Last night, Ali and the Victorian plumber enjoyed their first single date together on Sydney’s Cockatoo Island.

The pair discussed their past relationships by painting large canvases with words representing what they hope to overcome in the future.

Robert isn’t worried about rumours over his sexuality.

Things heated up pretty quickly, with Ali, 32, admitting that she just couldn’t help herself when it came to kissing Robert.

“When I’m looking into Robert’s eyes, all I can think about is one thing… let’s get it on,” she told the camera.

“Today I’ve had the best day with you and what’s really important is that you let me be myself,” the smitten blonde later gushed to Robert.

It seems the feeling’s mutual.

“I’m starting to develop feelings for Ali. Like, real serious feelings,” he said.
