Before she became The Bachelorette there were two men who had captured Elly Miles’ heart

This season of The Bachelorette is promising double the love, and twice as many roses, with the surprise announcement of sister duo Elly and Becky Miles.

As the season unfolds fans will be eagerly watching along as both Elly and Becky (hopefully) find love.

As with seasons past, we’ll be looking for any clues or signs that point to which lucky man (or men) will be standing at the finale.

But before looking forward, we should also look back.

The past, in particular exes, can have a huge influence on the type of person Elly may be looking to spend the rest of her life with.

Before appearing on The Bachelor with Matt Agnew last year, Elly described exactly what she was looking for in a partner.

“My ideal partner is someone kind, funny, selfless, loyal and intelligent,” she said.

“Someone I can learn from and who learns from me. Supporting each other through both the difficult and happy times. Someone who shares the same love for life as me and who is willing to take chances. Someone to travel the world and tick off my bucket-list with. Someone who my family loves and I love his. Someone who, if they have a dog, that their dog and my dog get along really well. Someone generous, family orientated and humble.”

Bachelor blindside

In case you missed it, or need a refresher, Elly failed to find love with Bachie Matt Agnew on the show last year.

Australia fell in love with the bubble nurse from Newcastle and had her pegged as a favourite, until her shock elimination.

One of the biggest blindsides in the show’s history, fans were outraged by Elly’s exit after reaching the final five.

After warning Matt that Abbie’s feeling seemed ingenuine, the tables were turned and she was sent home heartbroken.

“At the time I thought I was doing the right thing, and I was being protective over Matt because he’s a great guy and I had really strong feelings for him,” Elly told TV WEEK after her exit.

High school sweetheart

There’s nothing quite like your first love.

For Elly it seems as though that was her high school sweetheart, Tom Caldwell.

Appearing in one of Elly’s earliest Instagram posts, the adorable duo are first snapped at her graduation in 2012.

The young couple appear on the Bachelorette’s Instagram in countless cute photos, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries alike.

“Wouldn’t have spent the last 4 years any other way 😘❤️ love you tommy, happy anniversary xxxx @tomcaldwell” Elly captioned in 2015.

The last time Tom appears on Elly’s feed however is just one month later in September, where she thanks family and friends for a wonderful birthday.

“I’m so blessed to have so much love in my life! I have the best family and friends!! Thank you everyone for the love and birthday wishes! And a big thank you to Tom for a beautiful day at the beach with ALL of the seafood!” she wrote.
