Twitter is up in arms over The Bachelor’s “bizarre” episode on Wednesday evening

So they're really doing it...

The Bachelor 2020 had a rip roaring start on Aussie screens last week as the country met more than 20 stunning women vying for Locky Gilbert’s heart.

And we can safely say the show delivered on everything you’d expect from a Bachelor premiere week – unique personalities, drama, and of course, a shiny new far-too-obvious front-runner (ahem, BELLA, ahem).

But what we didn’t quite expect to see was a very quick turn of events come week two of Bachie-land.

After week one’s whirlwind first date, a first kiss and that red-head meltdown, the third episode of the show covered, well… not that much.

Gone was the group date, the usual mansion banter as the girls gobble down breakfast and laze by the pool and hell, we’d have been lucky to see a single date take centre stage.

Nope, there wasn’t even a group date in last night’s episode.

Instead, we witnessed what would usually take up, say… a 30 per cent portion of the program? Yep, all we got was a cocktail party.

“So they’re really doing it, they’re really making the whole episode the cocktail party/rose ceremony,” Bachelor writer Tahlia Pritchard penned on Twitter.

Whether it’s because producers figured the Areeba/Juliette drama was enough to tide audiences over, or whether Bella’s second steamy sesh with Locky would have us hooked for days remains to be seen.

But what we do know is that Twitter was not all that pleased at the bizarre episode structure.

Luckily, the social media platform itself often manages to provide the best content to keep us entertained regardless of what’s happening on the show.

We take a look at how the episode was received by the masses last night.

People clearly had thoughts about Juliette’s, er, heartfelt note about how the glitz and glam of the cocktail parties isn’t the real her.

Ironic given she herself is a fashion stylist with a base in Los Angeles, but hey ho.

Of course, the internet had thoughts on Areeba too.

Others called out the simple fact that yet another season of The Bachelor was perpetuating women on women drama.

We’ll wait in hope that things pick up from here, and in the meantime, Twitter’s on-point reactions can continue to give us another perspective.

Bring on at least one more group date… please.
