The Amazing Race Australia returns!

It’s been five years since the original, which aired for three seasons on Channel Seven, graced our screens. Now, the hit reality series is back on Channel 10, with new host Beau Ryan at the helm.

Along with being amazing, the new series promises to be “crazy, ludicrous, outrageous and adventurous” as host Beau leads 11 teams as they ping pong across three continents.

Alpaca farmer Chris says he and firefighter Adrienne have been “travelling life’s highway for 30 years together”.

Adrienne, South Australia’s first female firefighter, has been honoured with an Order of Australia Medal for her services to the community, charity and women’s affairs and Chris has an Australian Bravery Medal for saving their 15-year-old daughter from a shark. Not much will faze this couple!

Rowah and daughter Amani see this as a chance to bust stereotypes. Amani is studying fashion and hopes to create modest clothing for Muslim women; Rowah owns three gyms and during the competition hopes to “learn more about my daughter, to empower women – and, of course, to win”.

These personal trainers and newlyweds are the fittest they’ve ever been, so physical challenges will be a breeze. Rod says their cheerful outlook will also be a boon.

“We rarely argue and are both normally positive, likeable people,” he says. “We think that will put us at the front of the pack.”

Judy swims 1.5km and runs 17km a week, and Therese gets about on a non-motorised scooter. Not to be underestimated!

Femi and Nick are psychiatric nurses, so they’re cool, calm and collected in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.

Queenslanders Hayley and Mikayla are so competitive, they’ve been banned from family game nights – watch out!
