Matt and Luke have been crowned winners of My Kitchen Rules 2019 in a nail-biting Grand Final that saw them serve up a five course menu against Ibby and Romel.

Matt and Luke came out on top with a total score of 92 out of 100, beating out Ibby and Romel by four points.

For the 10th Anniversary Finale, the two teams produced more than 100 plates for a packed restaurant of family, friends, eliminated teams and an incredible 10 judges in honour of the show’s milestone.

Along with judges Pete Evans and Manu Feildel, the teams were judged by Colin Fassnidge, Karen Martini, Guy Grossi, Liz Egan, Guy Turland, Shannon Martinez, Sean Connolly and Rachel Khoo.

For their Grand Final menu in their Instant Restaurant Power Play, Matt and Luke served up a “modern Australian” menu with “classic Italian flair.”

“We’re going to start off subtle and build up flavour throughout the courses,” they revealed ahead of the showdown.

They served Confit Salmon with Peas, Duck Ravioli with Wild Mushroom, Barramundi with Roasted Fennel, Beef Cheek with Parsnip Mash, and Peach Bellini.

All of their courses were praised for technique and flavour, though it was their main course of Beef Cheek with Parsnip Mash that wowed all the guests. Followed by their ‘delicious’ Peach Bellini for dessert, the boys finished their menu on a high note.

The Grand Final was predicted to be a close race, and it certainly delivered with five tense courses for viewers to sit through.

Though Matt and Luke had been considered the ‘underdogs’ throughout the competition, they received a significantly higher score than Ibby and Romel in their Semi Final.

Matt and Luke scored a near perfect 59/60 against Andy and Ruby, while Ibby and Romel had scored 48/60 against Pat and Bianca.

With odds like those, the Grand Final was anyone’s game! But, ultimately, the cricketing besties came out on top.
